Muttahida wants steps for Hazara province
KARACHI, April 15: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has welcomed the announcement made by President Asif Ali Zardari about taking practical steps towards the creation of a Seraiki province.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the coordination committee of the MQM further said that the demand for a separate province by the people of Hazara should also be considered.

“The people of Hazara have been demanding a separate province in order to fulfil their political, cultural and economic aspirations. They have been making many sacrifices in their struggle, and it has been gaining intensity over time.”

The MQM coordination committee said the bill submitted by the MQM in parliament for the creation of Hazara and Seraiki provinces should be retrieved from the cold storage after the president’s latest announcement.

It called for holding a parliamentary debate on the MQM bills for the creation of new provinces.

They said these public aspirations should be considered with the seriousness they deserved instead of being equated with sedition and enmity to the country. It said that it was high time to remove the sense of deprivation prevailing among the people for the integrity and security of the country.
