‘Black day’ in Hazara today

ABBOTTABAD April 8: The anti-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa action committee has decided to observe black day on Friday in Hazara division against the passage of 18th amendment, which included renaming of the province, from the National Assembly. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Baba Haider Zaman, the convener of the committee, announced to observe black day and launch campaign for Hazara province on Friday.

He was also flanked by former speaker National Assembly Gohar Ayub Khan, former deputy speaker Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob, former minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, Tariq Khan Swati, Shezada Gustasip Khan, Nisar Safdar Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, Junaid Qasim and Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon.

He said that action committees would be formed in every district of Hazara division to devise strategy for peaceful drive. He claimed that people throughout Hazara division would take part in the campaign.

Gohar Ayub, Amanullah Jadoon and Mushtaq Ghani termed the renaming of the province a step towards weakening of Pakistan. Amendment should be made in the constitution to set up more provinces for removing sense of deprivation among peoples, they added.

They said that they would not allow anyone to write the new name of NWFP on government offices in Hazara division.

Criticising the PML-N and PPP leaderships, they said that people of Hazara would never forgive them for their negative role.

Qalandar Khan Lodhi, an MPA of PML-Q, said on the occasion that he had already submitted his resolution regarding Hazara province in NWFP Assembly.

RALLY: Anjuman Talaba-i-Islam Abbottabad organised a protest rally against the renaming of the province. The rally was led by provincial chief of ATI Asad Khan Jadoon and Raja Qadeer Iqbal.

The rally was started from Abbottabad College and after passing from the main city it ended in front of Abbottabad Press Club. The participants of the rally vowed to launch a province-wide protest against the renaming of the province.
